Juan Sebastián Lach Lau

Juan Sebastián Lach Lau Composer of instrumental and electronic music combining generative and interactive algorithmic processes, microtonal harmonic explorations and derived music. Likes to collaborate with musicians and ensembles both as composer and performer of electronic media. Has been playing piano since childhood and played keyboards in rock band Santa Sabina (1991-2001), with whom he participated in 4 albums. His music is edited in some compilation albums as well as a portrait CD, Islas (Navona Records, 2013). Studied composition with Clarence Barlow and Gilius van Bergeijk at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and obtained a PhD in Artistic Research from Leiden University (2012). Has taught composition from 2008 to 2018 at Las Rosas Conservatory in Morelia, Mexico, and since then is Associate Professor at the Music Technology program at ENES Morelia, UNAM. He is a member of the Sistema Nacional de Creadores of Mexico.
