Study With JACK
JACK is the quartet in residence at the Mannes School of Music, where they provide mentorship to Mannes’s Cuker and Stern Graduate String Quartet. They teach each summer at New Music on the Point, a contemporary chamber music festival in Vermont for young performers and composers. JACK has long-standing relationships with the University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program, where they teach and collaborate with students each fall and spring, as well as with the Lucerne Festival Academy, of which all four members are alumni.
Mannes School of Music
JACK joined the Mannes School of Music faculty as Quartet in Residence in 2019. In addition to mentoring the Cuker and Stern Graduate String Quartets at Mannes, JACK coaches chamber music, presents classes and workshops, and perform on campus each semester in performances that are open to the general public.
New Music on the Point
Each June, JACK retreats to the shores of Lake Dunmore in Vermont, spending two weeks working with performers and composers on the development and performance of new chamber music. The environment is rustic, the food is excellent, and the music making is powerful. The program is open to instrumentalists, vocalists, ensembles, and composers.
University of Iowa
JACK visits the University of Iowa twice each season, working with the University of Iowa String Quartet Residency Program and the Composition Department. JACK collaborates with performance and composition students on the interpretation and creation of new works for string quartet, and also perform concerts of JACK’s current repertoire.
