Ty Bloomfield
Inspired by everyday life, Chicago-native Ty Bloomfield (b. 2000) looks towards simplicity for inspiration. Since his start in 2019, Bloomfield has written numerous works, primarily focused on wind ensemble and miniature-based chamber works. His works have been commissioned from many of his peers and received performances at several festivals such as the International Clarinet Association’s New Music Weekend and ISU’s Red Note Festival. In December 2022, he will graduate from the Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts at Illinois State University with a bachelor’s degree in music composition. His primary teachers include Dr. Roger Zare, Dr. Carl Schimmel, and Dr. Roy Magnuson. In the future, Bloomfield plans to help the next generation of composers, especially those of other underrepresented groups, find their voice through music, as well as encourage them to not shy away from speaking their mind with the medium of their choice.
